We all love a good transformation story, don’t we? Whether it’s an amazing home renovation, someone who’s bootstrapped an empire out of nothing or the person who beat the odds, lost a lot of weight and kept it off (like my clients here). We LOVE a good “before and after”. There’s just something about these transformational stories that gives us hope. That if someone else can completely transform their situation, maybe somehow we can too.
Today, I’m going to discuss what I think personal transformation is all about and how I can help YOU do just that. Keep reading!
We’re Wired for Progress
Have you ever noticed that we’re typically happiest in our lives when we feel we’re making progress? Even if things aren’t happening super fast, as long as you’re moving forward, you tend to feel pretty good about your life, right?
But how do you know if you’re really making progress or just convincing yourself you are? I think the answer to this question lies in what your true goals and life intentions are. You could just be making progress on things that ultimately don’t really matter to you. I want you to ponder the answer to some of these questions to get you thinking:
- When was the last time I felt really proud of myself?
- Am I happy with my life or just going through the motions?
- If I could change anything about my situation what would it be?
- What would it feel like to follow my passion?
- How would I look at life differently if I made my health a priority?
- Am I the same person I was 5 years ago?
- When was the last time I took a risk?
- What kind of freedom would I have if I finally paid off my debt?
- What kind of person would I have to become to lose 30 lbs?
One thing I know for certain, is that if you haven’t asked yourself questions like this in a long time, then there’s probably things in your life you haven’t wanted to deal with. Asking questions can lead to answers we may have to do something about. Not everyone is willing to get honest and make the
sometimes hard choices living an authentic life can require.
Stagnation is the Enemy
Stagnation (noun) – lack of activity, growth or development
I think stagnation can be the death of our spirit and happiness. If you think about something being stagnant in nature, it’s never a good thing. A stream or creek that is stagnant gets stinky, unpleasant and life becomes unbalanced. The same can be said for our bodies when we don’t have good flow or circulation. On a deeper level, if you believe that we’re infinite spiritual beings, than being restricted in any way goes against our very nature. If we’re not allowing ourselves to be free, we’re setting ourselves up for some major unhappiness. Life itself is about expansion, not stagnation.
It’s when we feel stuck and things feel hopeless that we turn negative. Life begins to seem hostile or against us somehow. We begin to lose our excitement about the future and can lose faith in our own ability to reach our dreams. Many people just stop trying to reach for more.
Are you in a rut?
But what do you do when you have been in the same rut for years? You’ve been at the same weight, the same job, the same place financially, mentally and emotionally. You wake up each day to do almost the exact same thing you did yesterday. Groundhog Day (the movie) again and again. I’ve heard that by the age of 35 our personalities are pretty much set and we just basically run a program of all our past thoughts and experiences. Our reactions to life become very predictable and we’ve had no new thinking in a long time.
Unless someone gets a major wake-up call such as an illness, death in the family or divorce, most people will basically stay the same and keep plugging along the way they always have. The familiarity of the “comfort zone” takes over and our courage to take on new challenges wanes.
This to me is terrifying! This is actually my personal definition of hell. Why? Because if we don’t keep learning and growing with new thoughts and ways of looking at life, our lives are going to STAGNATE! I don’t know about you, but living a “life of quiet desperation” is NOT for me. If we don’t continue to push ourselves with new challenges and overcome our fears, the comfort zone will even stop being comfortable. Then what?
I Can Help Transform Your Life
Many of you know me as a personal trainer but through the years, my expertise has evolved into much more. My help and guidance for my clients has turned into life coach, nutritional counselor, relationship advisor, life strategist. My help to other women has evolved as their needs began to get more complex. The days of just putting someone through a workout and calling it a day, are over. That’s so 2005.
Is personal training outdated? I think the one-dimensional days of strictly physical training are numbered. If I can’t get into your head and help unravel the deeper issues that hold you back, then you’ll never really reach a long lasting place of peace and contentment, with your body or anything else. What I now offer can’t be duplicated with an app or barre class. It’s much more comprehensive and not to toot my own horn, but EVOLVED.
You may wonder why I don’t post more pics and videos of me working out or demonstrating exercises or showing myself in bikinis. While I can certainly do that, it’s just that there’s plenty of that stuff already out there. After 15 years of helping people, I no longer feel the need to prove myself in a strictly physical way. But just for the record, I do still have abs…LOL!
I Will Teach You to Be Strong
I may look like a nice person, and I like to think that I am. But don’t be fooled into thinking this is weakness. Being in my mid-40s I’ve gone through many of life’s challenges. I’ve endured many things that have developed strength and humility. Some qualities that I will bring to the table when helping YOU:
- The art of letting go
- Getting honest with yourself
- Learning how to say NO – to yourself and others
- Learn to stand up for yourself
- Ask for what you really want
- Stop believing your own bullshit
- Not caring what other people think
- Tapping into your own STRENGTH
- Developing your intuition
- CREATING a LIFE you LOVE!
I won’t judge wherever you are starting from, but I will hold you ACCOUNTABLE to where you say you want to be. I will show you tough love when you need it, won’t buy into your excuses and will show you your blind spots. Your success is my success. I want you to WIN!
